Are you preparing to say “I do?” Then you and your spouse-to-be are probably busy selecting a photographer, worrying about the seating chart, and debating if the cake flavor should be red velvet or triple chocolate. But have you thought about including your dog in your big day?
Here are some ways your dog can make a big splash as part of your bridal party!
1. The Wedding Ceremony
There are a several ways you can include your dog! They can escort the bride to the altar or you can tie the rings to their collar so they can act as ring bearer.
Another option is to place a sign around their neck that says “Here Comes the Bride” and have them follow the maid of honor down the aisle. It’s a fun and unique way let everyone know it is time to stand (and a great photo op!).
2. Guest List
If you don’t want your dog to have a role in the ceremony, add him to the guest list! Just make sure he is looked after by a family member or friend he feels comfortable with.
3. Wedding Photos
Let the photographer know ahead of time you plan to include your dog in the photos. They can capture your dog both in posed and candid shots with you and your wedding party.
4. Reception
If your reception venue is dog-friendly, let your pooch greet the guests! Depending on the setting, you may want to consider allowing your family and friends to bring their well-behaved canines. This can add a lot of fun and lead to silly and memorable photos. Just make sure none of the food is at mouth level!
5. The Honeymoon
Now that you know how to include your dog in your wedding, you may be wondering where he’ll stay during your honeymoon. That’s where we come in!
We offer pet camp which allows your dog to stay with a pet-loving family in their home. He will be able to freely explore the house and roam in a fenced-in yard.
If your dog prefers to stay in his usual surroundings, we have an overnight pet sitting service where a trained sitter will spend the night at your place.
Contact us to learn more about these options. We’ll help you decide which one is right for your pet so you can go on a worry-free honeymoon!
PS – Congrats on your big day!
