While there is some debate around the benefits of hemp and hemp oil, hemp oil is hugely beneficial for humans – and the same has been concluded for dogs, too! While some fear hemp and the associated uses with the plant it stems from, we here at VIP Pets think it is GREAT. Here’s why.

Hemp oil reduces anxiety.

Hemp oil has been proven to reduce anxiety in dogs. If your dog suffers from separation anxiety or noise phobia, hemp oil may be an excellent natural solution! It would be a great way to help them relax when uncomfortable.

Can help manage seizures and epilepsy

Did you know that up to 5% of dogs suffer from seizures? Crazy, right?! While most dogs are given drugs with lots of chemicals, such as phenobarbital and potassium bromide, hemp oil can be a welcome alternative treatment. While medications can help control seizures, they can also damage the dog’s liver and other organs. Hemp oil does not have serious side effects and has been proven to reduce drug-resistant epilepsy within 4-5 months!

Relieves pain

Studies suggest that Hemp and CBD oil can effectively reduce pain, including general inflammation, nerve-related pain, and intestinal inflammation.

Increases appetite

If you are having trouble with getting your dog to eat, then try hemp oil! The National Cancer Institute has reported that along with several other benefits, hemp and CBD oil can work to increase appetite.

Helps with nausea

Hemp oil is also helpful for vomiting and nausea in dogs, even when the sickness is the result of toxins and drugs.

Hemp oil is a hot topic in the pet community. Here at VIP Pets, we love that hemp oil is natural, free from chemicals, and useful for treating anxiety, epilepsy, pain, and nausea. Pet parents should always consult with a veterinarian before trying a new medicine with their pet, so the first step is to book a check-up and start a conversation!
