Resident Pets

I’ve had a very wide range of pets from my past ranging from rat and lizards to cats and dog but I currently have 7 loving pets . I recently rescued a Shepherd/Lab mix (Nikko 2 months) which is just a a ball of energy. I help take care of a Great Dane (Dak 4) who’s a big snuggle bug and loves attention, a Rottweiler mix (Hagrid 5) that loves to take naps, and orange Tabby (Walter) he loves to sunbathe and play with the big dogs. I also have 3 ferrets that range in age from 1-4 yrs old of which one is deaf but they have the biggest personality and do the craziest things.

What is the funniest or most memorable experience you’ve have with an animal?

The funniest experience I’ve had with an animal was recently. I was taking one of my ferrets (Chonk) on a walk and stopped by an enclosed park, My husband and I thought it would be a good idea to let Chonk off the leash for a bit. Little did we know that he would run about 2 feet then lay down (we call it speed bumping) in which he then decide that was a great spot to nap and had a dead sleep. We had to carry him the rest of the way home to which he napped for 3 hours.

Why do you love working with animals?

I love working with animals because it gives me a sense of purpose plus I love being able to meet new friendly faces and make a small difference in their lives. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a happy/healthy fur-friend or new pet friend in general.
