Resident Pets

We currently have 5 dogs- 2 Frenchies, 2 Aussies and one perfect, accidental “FrAussie”. My aging mother is about to move in with her 2 dogs, so the pack will be growing. It’s definitely a fun, fur-filled life!

What is the funniest or most memorable experience you’ve have with an animal?

I was once kicked my a deer when I was a small child. We had stopped to feed them while on a road trip and when I tried to show the deer that I had no more food, I was thanked with a swift kick to the chest.

As far as memorable experiences with pets would be the night my Frenchie went into labor. In trying to get her to the hospital for the C-section, she ran out of the front door and into our neighbor’s garage while they were hosting a crawfish boil. We had just moved in 2 days prior, so we hadn’t had a chance to meet people yet and I got to say hello while running through the middle of their party to catch my crazy dog.

Why do you love working with animals?

I have grown up with such a wide array of pets- dogs, rabbits, birds, fish, hermit crabs, hamsters, and a bearded dragon. For many years, I wanted to be a vet, but after I realized what all the job entails, I decided I couldn’t handle having to put animals down, though I know it’s the right decision at times. I just love loving on fur babies.
